I began to watch another Transformers cartoon series: Beast Wars. This show is kind of a continuation of the G1 series, and it takes place centuries after the Autobot-Decepticon Wars. The Autobots and the Decepticons are now both extinct, they are now replaced with the Maximals (descendants of the Autobots) and the Predacons (descendants of the Decepticons). Both the Maximals and the Predacons crash-land into a primitive planet (probably prehistoric Earth), which is full of Energon crystals, and because of the high Energon content of the planet, the Transformers can only stay in their robot modes for a limited amount of time.

The first Maximals to crash into the planet are Optimus Primal (Beast mode: Gorilla), Cheetor, whose probably the youngest Maximal, (Beast mode: Cheetah), Rattrap, the wise-ass, (Beast mode: Rat), Rhinox, the medic/inventor (Beast mode: Rhino) and Dinobot, the hotheaded one (Beast mode: Velociraptor). The latter was formerly a Predacon. However, as the show goes on, more Maximals join Optimus Primal’s team: Tigatron (Beast mode: White Tiger), Airazor (Beast mode: Falcon), Depth Charge (Beast mode: Manta Ray) and Silverbolt (Beast mode: half eagle, half wolf).

The first Predacons to crash into the planet are Megatron, who ends almost all of his sentences with “Yes...” or “No…” (Beast mode: Tyrannosaurus Rex), Terrorsaur, who’s pretty much the Starscream of the show (Beast mode: Pteranodon), Scorponok, who’s most loyal to Megatron (Beast mode: Scorpion), Tarantulas, the mad scientist, who works more for himself than Megatron (Beast mode: Spider), and last, but not least, Waspinator, the butt-monkey of the show (Beast mode: Wasp). However, as the show goes on, more Predacons join Megatron’s team: Blackarachnia, who would later become a Maximal, (Beast mode: Black Widow Spider), Inferno, the militant one, who calls Megatron “The Royalty” (Beast mode: Fire Ant) and Quickstrike (Beast mode: half scorpion, half cobra).

Good things:
- I like the concept of the show: Transformers changing into animals instead of vehicles
- I loved the episode with Starscream

Bad things:
- I wish at least Terrorsaur stuck around for longer: he, along with Scorponok, got killed off in the first episode of the second season.
- I also feel bad for Tigatron and Airazor: they got killed by those vine-things, and when they fused into Tigerhawk, they got killed off again.

Favorite character:
- Cheetor
- Rhinox
- Airazor
- Tigatron
- Optimus Primal
- Megatron (Yeeesss…)
- Blackarachnia
- Terrorsaur
- Waspinator
- Silverbolt
- Rattrap
- Depth Charge
- Scorponok

Least favorite character:
- Inferno
- Rampage
- I’m not really fond of Tarantulas either, no.

Also, somehow I can’t help but compare some of the characters to G1 Transformers:
- Cheetor: Bumblebee
- Rattrap: Jazz
- Rhinox: Ratchet/Wheeljack
- Terrorsaur: Starscream
- Scorponok: Soundwave
- Blackarachnia: Arcee
- Silverbolt: Jetfire/Skyfire
- Inferno: Blitzwing/Brawl
- Tarantulas: Bombshell/Swindle
- Rampage: Devastator/Bruticus

So yeah, despite the mediocre CGI, I love Beast Wars, yes. It’s a nice idea for a Transformers show, yes… Oh, slag! I’m starting to sound like Megatron!
