SithVamp Reviews: John Carpenter's The Thing
Welcome to another episode of SithVamp Reviews, and welcome to Kurt Russell Month! Yep, in March, I’m gonna take a look at some movies starring one of the most badass action stars (Whom, sadly will not play in Expendables 3) of all time: Kurt Russell. To start off Kurt Russell Month, let’s dig into one of the scariest films ever made: The Thing!
The Thing came out in 1982. It was directed by John Carpenter, director of the original Halloween movies. It is a remake of the 1951 film: The Thing from Another World. The movie’s story takes place on the Antarctic. It opens with a helicopter chasing a sled dog. The helicopter is piloted by Norwegians, and one of the Norwegians is shooting at the dog.
The dog is heading for a camp of an American research team. This research team has 12 members: Blair (played by Wilford Brimley), Bennings, Fuchs (pronounced Fyooks), Palmer, Garry, Nauls, Dr. “Doc” Copper, Clark, Windows (played by Thomas G. Waites, who also played
SithVamp Reviews: The Wanderers
Welcome to another episode of SithVamp Reviews! So, you thought the Warriors was the only street-gang movie out there? Well then let me introduce you to my OTHER favorite gang movie: The Wanderers! And no, it’s not a rip-off or anything. Aside from the fact that both movies feature gangs and both came out the same year, the Warriors and the Wanderers have nothing in common! So what makes this movie’s gang different from the BAMFs from Coney Island? Let’s dig into The Wanderers, and let’s find out!
Just like The Warriors, The Wanderers also came out in 1979. It was directed by Philip Kaufman, who also directed Invasion of the Body Snatchers and was co-creator of the story for Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.
The movie opens with the leader of the Wanderers, Richie, making love to his girlfriend Despie. They’re talking about giving true love to each other, then we cut to the next scene: the opening titles.
While the titles roll, we see another

Why am I telling you about street gangs? Because the movie I’ll review today is about them. I’m gonna review a little movie simply entitled… THE WARRIORS!
The Warriors came out in 1979. The main characters of this movie are a gang from Coney Island, New York, called the Warriors. This gang is represented by 9 of its best members: Swan, Cleon, Ajax, Rembrandt, Cochise, Snow, Fox, Cowboy and Vermin.
The movie opens with the Warriors going to a meeting in a park in the Bronx. Other gangs in New York go there too. The gangs go to this meeting, because Cyrus, the leader of the Gramercy Riffs is giving a speech about truce among gangs. Everything goes fine, until Cyrus gets shot and killed by Luther, leader of the Rogues. Not to get caught, Luther immediately fram
